Warning signs of suicidal thoughts:
An abrupt change from usual sadness to seeming happy or content.
Putting affairs in order, changing a will, giving valued possessions away.
Taking risks that may result in death, such as driving fast, not wearing a seatbelt or driving through red lights.
Constantly talking or thinking about death.
Making comments on worthlessness, helplessness and hopelessness.
Making statements like “Everyone would be better off without me” or “Life’s too hard”.
Talking about killing themselves
It is extremely important that if you or someone you know is demonstrating any of the above warning signs you:
Call a suicide hotline
Go to the emergency department
Visit your GP
Contact a mental health professional
